Embassy’s English Language Adviser conducts Readings at two schools

On Monday, February 27th the Embassy’s English Language Advisor conducted a “Pete the Cat” Reading lesson at the Khaleej Al Arabi Primary School for Boys as part of the Embassy’s Moving Library Program.  Twenty 4th grade students participated in the program, which included a lesson on the 5 elements of a story, a read-aloud of James Dean and Eric Litwin’s bestselling children’s story “Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes”, and a post-reading discussion of the book.  At the end of the program, students picked their own books from the Embassy’s Moving Library to read on their own.

On Tuesday, February 28th, Embassy staff visited Al Quds Model School for Boys and conducted a reading session with 65 students from the 4th, 5th and 6th grades.  Shel Silverstein’s famous coming of age tale about the power of generosity and unconditional love, “The Giving Tree,” was a favorite among students, so much so that after the story was finished students volunteered to write their own stories about the meaning of giving.
