The U.S. Embassy in Qatar is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the prestigious Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program. This program provides an exciting opportunity for scholars from Qatar to conduct advanced research, lecture, or pursue combined lecturing and research at leading academic institutions in the United States for a period ranging from three to ten months between September 2024 and June 2025.

Program Details
- Duration: from three months to one academic year (9-10 months)
- Fields of Study: All academic disciplines
- Financial Support: the Fulbright Visiting Scholar is a fully funded exchange program by the U.S. Department of State. It provides comprehensive financial support, including international travel, living expenses, health insurance, and research allowances.
Eligible applicants must
- Be citizens of Qatar and residing in Qatar at the time of application and selection.
- Have completed their Ph.D. degree or equivalent professional qualifications prior to applying.
- Have excellent academic records and a proven commitment to research and teaching.
- Be proficient in both written and spoken English. Please note that English certificates such as TOEFL and IELTS are not required.
- Clearly describe their proposed teaching and/or research plans including the duration of the project and its goals in a maximum of five pages
- Include a letter of invitation from a U.S. host institution or contact information of the desired host institution. Please note that researching host institutions is the responsibility of prospective applicants. Please see here a checklist of Letter of Invitation components.

Application Procedure
All interested applicants must complete the Fulbright Visiting Scholar application online https://apply.iie.org/fvsp2024/ (see preview below).
Select the 2024 application form, create an account, and then log in to start a new application. Submit the completed application forms electronically and scanned copies of all required documents no later than December 10, 2023. All required documents should be submitted online.
A complete application includes:
- Application form (generated by the system including attachments)
- Detailed statement of proposed activity (3 to 5 pages maximum)
- Detailed curriculum vitae
- Two reference letters
- Copy of passport bio page
- Translated copy of diplomas and grade transcripts (Bachelor, Master’s and Doctoral degree)
- Other certificates received (related to field of study only)
- Letters of invitation or appointment from U.S. institutions (preferred but not required)
