MEPI Student Leaders Program 2022

In a bid to help youths in Qatar explore American society and learn about its history and heritage, the U.S. Department of State, as part of the Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI), organizes an annual program for young leaders from the Middle East to travel to the United States for 4 to 6 weeks over the summer. The students will travel to one of four different universities across the country and be exposed to fascinating discussions on a variety of topics. They will also have a chance to meet other youths from the Middle East and exchange their experiences.

Based on the above, the Embassy encourages you to nominate yourself or other candidates who meet the following criteria:

· Recent university graduates or undergraduates (all fields of study accepted)

· Age between 20 – 24 (birth dates falling between July 28, 1998, and June 29, 2002)

· Qatari citizens or residents in Qatar from Kuwait, Iraq, Bahrain, Israel, Yemen, Tunisia, Algeria, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco and West Bank and Gaza.

· Have history of volunteer work

· Fluent in English

The summer program is an intensive 5-week program and is tentatively scheduled to take place from June 29 until July 28, 2022. The summer program will either be a virtual, hybrid, or in-person program depending on the state of the global pandemic.

Expenses for the program are fully paid by the U.S. Department of State.
