Doha – Qatar’s Ministry of Education and Higher Education and U.S. Embassy Doha opened the Fourth Annual International Education Conference today – one of Qatar’s biggest educational events of the year. Over 1,000 Ministry officials, educators and administrators from Qatar and abroad are registered to attend the event, under the banner, “Education That Makes a Difference.”
U.S. Embassy Doha’s visiting education expert, Bryan Goodwin, will deliver sessions on applying the science of learning to instructional design and four key roles leaders must fulfill to support effective schools. “It’s an honor to meet with so many educators from the region and share insights on effective, research-based practices for improving teaching, learning, and school leadership—practices that can be adapted and used with success by schools worldwide,” said Mr. Goodwin. A frequent conference presenter, Mr. Goodwin is the President and CEO of McREL International, a Denver-based nonprofit education research and development organization. He is the author of Simply Better: Doing What Matters Most to Change the Odds for Student Success, and co-author of The 12 Touchstones of Good Teaching and Balanced Leadership for Powerful Learning: Tools for Achieving Success in Your School and Unstuck: How Curiosity, Coaching, and Teaming Can Change Schools.
Mr. Goodwin will share his expertise in education research, effective teaching and leadership practices, and school improvement during the two-day program. Approximately 2,500 educators from more than 25 countries will attend the program that features 150 talks, workshops and poster presentations as well as networking opportunities. This offers delegates a unique opportunity to meet leading trainers, researchers and writers, and exchange ideas with fellow professionals from both school and higher education sectors.
