NOTICE: (April 7, 2020) U.S. passport services are currently limited due to COVID-19 pandemic. Please click here for more information.
The U.S. Embassy in Doha processes passport applications by appointment only in order to better serve customers and reduce waiting times. To make an appointment, please follow the instructions for the passport service you are requesting. Applicants must personally appear at the Embassy for all passport services.
Passport applications received at the embassy are processed in the U.S. and takes approximately two and half weeks. Expedited services are not available overseas. We encourage applicants to apply for or renew their passports as early as possible. You will retain your old passport until your new passport is ready, at which time we will cancel your old passport and return it to you.
Before You Visit
Please read the instructions for the passport that you need carefully and comply with all application requirements. If you do not, you will be asked to return another day. It is important to come to your appointment with the application completed, but do not sign the form.
Passport Pickup Hours
U.S. passports are generally ready within two weeks of submitting your application. You can pick up your passport at the front gate window of the Embassy without an appointment. Pickup time is 10:30-11:30 AM on Mondays and Thursdays (except for American and Qatari holidays). Please bring your old passport with you for cancellation.

Additional Visa Pages
On January 1, 2016 the U.S. Department of State discontinued the service of adding additional visa pages to U.S. passports. U.S. passport holders in need of additional space in their passports will need to renew their passports using form DS-82. If you renew your passport from outside of the United States you will automatically be issued a larger 52-page book. Passport renewals submitted through the U.S. Embassy in Doha take approximately two weeks for processing. The Embassy encourages all U.S. citizens to plan and apply well in advance of scheduled travel.
