U.S. Embassy at the 29th Doha International Book Fair

The U.S. Embassy participated in the 29th annual Doha International Book Fair November 29-December 8, 2018. With the objective of promoting reading and literacy among all visitors – children and adults alike – a wide selection of English-language books written by American authors were on sale at affordable and reasonable prices. Deputy Chief of Mission, Phillip Nelson welcomed H.E. Ahmad bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud, Speaker of the Shura Council, and H.E. Mr. Salah Bin Ghanim Al-Ali, Minister of Culture and Sports to the Embassy’s booth during the fair’s opening. Books on sale through the U.S. Embassy included titles on U.S. history, geography, tourism, as well as resources for students on college test preparation. This year we also hosted 9 workshops for visitors on topics ranging from Social Media in Businesses to Importance of reading to your child. All the workshops were warmly received. The highlight of this year’s participation was however the visit of H.H. the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to our booth when he visited to the book fair.
